Every resistor in a satellite payload has to hold its value for a mission with no service call — TNPS ESCC thin film chip resistors already fly in communication and research satellites today, holding tolerance to ± 0.1 % and TCR to ±15 ppm/K through years of thermal cycling in orbit. For the tightest reference circuits, PHR resistors push that precision further still, to 0.01 % tolerance and 5 ppm/°C. Together, they cover the payload's signal chain from general bias networks to the calibration points where drift can't be tolerated.
